Since 1985 when we began our
work seeking out and honoring America’s
eldest citizens, the centenarian population
has increased over three fold, from
approximately 25,000 to over 90,000 in 2009,
with projections of soon surpassing the
100,000 mark. The importance of our work in
seeking out and recognizing this fastest
growing segment of our population has been
widely recognized by the media and
scientific and medical organizations, as
well as those interested in the social and
societal values reflected by these special
citizens.
Your financial
will help us continue to expand our
work and outreach to keep pace with this
phenomenal growth. Our aim is to recognize
these elders as our living links to history,
for the contributions they have made to our
country, and for the contemporary examples
they set for the future of aging and the
possibilities of longevity. Active
centenarians are role models for our
longevity.
